Dime Cash Tracker

This Privacy Policy explains how Dime Cash Tracker collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Android app and related invite and hosting pages.

Information We Collect

Account information

Your phone number is used for sign-in with one-time password verification. You may also set a display name for your profile.

Cashbook data

The app stores cashbook names, member roles, transaction entries, balances, timestamps, and related operational records needed for shared bookkeeping.

Invite data

When an admin creates an invite, the app stores the invited phone number, selected role, invite status, and invite usage details so only the intended phone number can join.

Notification data

To deliver transaction updates, the app stores Firebase Cloud Messaging token data plus basic device details such as platform, SDK version, manufacturer, and model.

Receipt images and documents

When you choose to attach a receipt, the app may capture or upload a photo or PDF and store it with the related cashbook transaction.

Receipt details

The app can read receipt text to help identify the date, amount, party name, and item details. These extracted details are stored with the transaction.

Contacts Permission

Dime Cash Tracker may request READ_CONTACTS to display familiar names for cashbook members and transaction actors, including in transaction history and reports, and to let an admin choose an invitee from device contacts.

Receipts, Documents, and Text Recognition

Receipt attachments are optional. If you choose to capture a receipt with the camera or select an image or PDF from your device, Dime Cash Tracker uploads that file to Firebase Cloud Storage and links it to the selected transaction.

How We Use Information

How Information Is Shared

Policy Acceptance and Optional Marketing Choices

When you sign in, we record the version and time of your acceptance of the Terms of Use and Fair Usage Policy and this Privacy Policy. This record is stored with your account information.

You can separately choose whether to receive product updates and marketing communications, and whether demographic information you voluntarily provide may be used for audience analysis and personalised marketing. Neither choice is required to create an account or use the core app. The app stores your choices and when they were last changed.

This version of the app does not ask for demographic details during sign-up. If you later choose to provide details such as broad region or language preference, we will explain what is requested and why. Where legally permitted and with your separate consent, such information may be shared with selected marketing or analytics providers acting on our instructions. We do not use receipt attachments or cashbook records for marketing.

You may withdraw either optional choice at any time through Privacy choices in the app's account menu, or contact us using the email below. Withdrawal does not affect your access to the core app.

Security

We use Firebase and HTTPS-backed services to protect data in transit. Receipt images and PDFs are stored in Firebase Cloud Storage. The app also uses Firebase App Check and role-based access rules to reduce unauthorized access to backend resources.

Data Retention

Data is retained while needed to operate the app and maintain shared cashbook records, unless deletion is required for legal, operational, or security reasons. Receipt images and PDFs are retained while they remain associated with a transaction or shared cashbook. In a shared cashbook, records may remain available to the other authorised members after one member leaves. Support requests relating to data removal can be sent to the contact email below.
